Prepare a sealed container to hold the syringe, such as a standard syringe container available at drug stores, a used pill container, a hard plastic gallon bottle that the needle cannot penetrate, or if you can't find the above, you can use a plastic water bottle instead.

Place used syringes in a prepared container and dispose of them in an infectious waste bin or send them to the receiving hospital.
