What is the Million Tree Planting Project?
The project aims to create green spaces and dust-filtering walls throughout Bangkok to improve quality of life and the environment, with a goal of planting 1 million trees by 2025 through cooperation from all sectors.
Why plant 1 million trees?
- Reduce dust and air pollution: Trees help absorb carbon dioxide and capture dust, which is good for people's health.
- Create shade: Help reduce the temperature in the city and increase the shady area for people to relax.
- Increase biodiversity: It is a habitat and food source for animals. Many local trees help promote the ecosystem.

Where should I plant trees?
The project focuses on planting trees in various areas throughout Bangkok as follows:
- Large area: Public park, small public park, open space in Suan Luang
- Walking Area: Under expressways, electric trains, sidewalks, median strips
- Waterfront area: Canal bank, water source
What trees should be planted?
The type of tree will depend on the conditions of the area as follows:
- Full sun area: Sela, Cana, Jik Suan, Pibthong
- Partial shade area: Praduban Ruengphueng st Sri Trang
- Narrow space: Teakwood, wild sappanwood, pikul, water sappanwood
- Railway area: Sela Cana Cordia Pibthong
- Area under expressway: Cordia Pibthong Pikul Lamduan
- Waterfront area: Bottle brush, water hyacinth, galangal, ironwood
How will Bangkok change once the project is completed?
