“Death is a normal thing. But before death, it is not a normal thing. What matters is what we breathe.”
This December 15th, experience Dialogue with the Father, co-produced by Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, For What Theatre, and Miss Theatre. Building on the two directors’ Bangkok Theatre Festival 2023 work, “Just Away,” a solo documentary performance by Vasu Vasulayangkun, the middle son of Wat Vasulayangkun, this time explores the life and work undeniably intertwined with the context and history of Thai politics of Wat Vasulayangkun, an artist, fighter, and father, through the perspectives of Wana Vasu and Wajana Vasulayangkun, the three heirs who inherited their father’s intellectual legacy and held onto their father’s stories through their own experiences and memories. Today, Wana Vasu and Wajana continue their paths as storytellers through media and art in their own unique ways.
The performance of Dialogue with the Father is a live documentary performance through texts, writings, still images, animations, paintings, songs, poems, witnesses and evidence of various memories that act as a record of personal and social history of Thailand by Wat Wana Wasu and Wajana Waralyangkun.
*The performance is in Thai.
